If I double click on the volume control icon, in the very lower left hand corner of the box it says “IDT Audio”. I asked a sales rep of Dell , whether the display port of the M outputs audio and he replied yes after further inquiry in his office. No it doesn’t show it. How does one point to a different audio device?

Using latituse “reasonable man” standard to answer such a question– the answer is clearly NO. And yes, I have enough experience to know that “dock” is cheap – cheap to made.
I also plan to buy the adapter and will test it on my TV if the rep was right as soon as my order is out and the notebook arrives.

I wonder if you’re pointing to the right audio device? Turn the Dispoayport off, plug it in, and power it back on? To this day they do not make this HUGE omission clear on their websites.
